Labour Leadership Candidate, David Miliband, visits Newport 09 July 2010
Labour leadership candidate David Miliband MP spoke to a packed Ringland Labour club, Newport, about his vision for the party and what challenges the party had to overcome to get back to power.
He was met at the meeting by Jessica Morden, MP for Newport East, and Paul Flynn, MP for Newport West, and addressed members, and non-members, from across South East Wales, as well as doing a lengthy Q&A, taking questions on a wide range of topics from the situation in the Gaza strip to how we engage more young people in politics.
Jessica said “It is vital that the grassroots of the Labour Party have the opportunity to question leadership candidates and it is equally important that the candidates hear what the grassroots are concerned about. David was open to any question, on any topic, so members could thoroughly assess him as a potential leader.”
